Near East University Experimental Health Sciences Research Center (NEU-DESAM) has been actively continuing its national and international scientific activities since June 2015. At the beginning of 2020, DESAM evolved into the DESAM Research Institute as a result of its rapid growth. This new entity will take an active role in Research & Development (R&D) and post-doctoral researcher employment. DESAM research laboratories and working subgroups are within the DESAM Research Institute and it is planned to conduct research in many special fields such as bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, molecular medicine, mathematical models in health, and fetal medicine within the scope of postdoctoral research. To move the Near East University, which has set the goal of being a 4th generation university, even further, and ensure scientific sustainability by bringing the technological developments of the age together, raising qualified personnel in a multi-disciplinary environment, and stimulating quality scientific production, the DESAM Research Institute has been structured to provide certificate programs and research services by expanding its field. Additionally, considering the requirements of the era, the institute aims to be a bridge between health and technology fields by covering research areas such as artificial intelligence in health, three-dimensional design, and printing, 3D bio-printing, mathematical modeling in health, and genome engineering.

Since it was first established, DESAM has been a center that prioritizes fundamental goals and values, human life and dignity, respects ethical rules, produces universal, quality, valid, and reliable information, raises creative and genuine individuals, attaches importance to cooperation between national and international disciplines, and adopts institutionalism.

The main purpose of the DESAM Research Institute, which aims to carry out original scientific research based on the principle of training academicians who are lifelong learners of experimental health sciences in a multidisciplinary, contemporary, and free academic environment, and which conducts all necessary steps in this regard in a disciplined manner, is to raise free-thinking, productive, and fruitful scholars who are beneficial to society.

The mission of DESAM Research Institute consists of a multidisciplinary structure covering the fields of health, technology, and engineering to ensure scientific sustainability. The Institute aims to carry out research services, contribute to the developments in contemporary science and technologies, social life and management, and increase the recognition of international cooperation on the basis of certificate programs and research.

The Institute offers certificate programs and post-doc (post-doctoral research) programs with the vision of achieving high-quality research and creating a competitive environment to increase the rate of success. To ensure quality education in line with the scientific and technological developments in the rapidly developing modern information age, the institute will include programs such as mathematical modeling in health, bioinformatics, disease modeling and genome engineering, systems biology, genomics, three-dimensional bio-printing and artificial intelligence in health. Due to the requirements of the age of artificial intelligence, it is our main vision to bridge the health and social fields. DESAM Research Institute, which has adopted the mission to create cooperation protocols that will provide an environment for increasing the production of interdisciplinary projects, will have critical importance in terms of further increasing the recognition of our university in the international arena.
