The DESAM Research Institute Kit Production and Genome Analysis Laboratory was established in 2021 to meet the increasing demand for COVID-19 molecular diagnostic kits following the COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV). Its activities began with the development of molecular screening- and diagnosis-based COVID-19 diagnostic and variant detection kits, producing innovative, high-technology solutions to help control the spread of the virus.

The scientific and technical expertise gained during the COVID-19 period has expanded the laboratory’s research and production capacity into different fields. With this accumulated knowledge, the laboratory now develops not only diagnostic kits targeting ongoing epidemics (ResVir RT-PCR Diagnostic Kit, 2022; Dual VZV-MPOX Screening Kit, 2024; HDV qRT Diagnostic Kit, 2024; Upper Respiratory Tract Viruses Screening Panel qRT-PCR Kit, 2024), but also rapid, reliable, and highly sensitive diagnostic kits against vector-borne infectious diseases, which are expected to increase particularly due to the effects of climate change (VecBornDis Chikungunya qRT-PCR Diagnostic Kit, 2022; VecBornDis Dengue qRT-PCR Diagnostic Kit, 2022; VecBornDis West Nile Virus qRT-PCR Diagnostic Kit, 2023; Real Monkeypox qRT-PCR Diagnostic Kit, 2023). In addition, products targeting different fields have also been developed, such as the PlantPlex GMO Screening Kit (2021) and the FCoV qRT-PCR Diagnostic Kit (2023).

With its expert staff and state-of-the-art equipment, the Kit Production and Genome Analysis Laboratory conducts studies focused on the diagnosis of infectious and genetic diseases that are critical to public health. Designed by considering local infection cases and in line with scientific developments both nationally and internationally, its rapid diagnostic kits contribute to both academic research and clinical diagnostic processes.

Through its developed products, the DESAM Research Institute Kit Production and Genome Analysis Laboratory not only provides solutions in diagnostics but also builds a strong infrastructure for scientific research, continuing to deliver reliable support for academic studies, clinical research, and healthcare services.
